Face Oil Cleanser
The idea of an oil cleanser is quite new to us. It wasn’t long ago that we thought the way to clean skin is to use a soap - or anything that provides a thick lather. After oil, soap is made to remove oil, dirt and impurities. Or so we thought. And then, we decided to create a simple oil cleanser with an aromatic synergy and we were sold. Rather, we were happy to discover how, in spite of this totally counterintuitive idea of cleansing the skin by apply an oil combination, it actually works wonder.
This cleanser was created especially to support our skin and our emotional well being during the fall season. We used a combination of two vegetable oils and a simple essential oil synergy that will stimulate and ground at the same time. It may give a gentle reminder of a summer scent while rounding off with notes of cedarwood for the season to come.
This gentle cleanser is perfect for all skin types as it’s gentle and soothing.
Net weight: 2 fl. oz., in amber glass bottle.
Ingredients: Organic jojoba oil (Simondsia chinensis), Organic sesame oil (Sesamum indicum), Cedarwood, Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin), Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens). 2.5% dilution.
Organic jojoba oil (Simondsia chinensis)- high in wax esters and is the closest to our own skin’s sebum and it’s quickly absorbed in the skin without leaving a greasy feel.
Sesame oil (Sesamum indicum)- in Ayurveda, sesame is a great healing oil and is used extensively for its warming effect on the skin and to pacify vata imbalance which is predominant in the fall season. It’s a bit heavier but penetrates quickly.
Cedarwood - Rich in sesquiterpenes, is calm, grounding and soothing and provides for open breathing space. Mild woodsy notes.
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) - Has revitalizing and uplifting but calming effects on our senses. Great harmonizer in this blend.
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) - rich in alcohols, esters and sesquiterpenes. We used it to support the intention of mildly cleansing for balance and calming for the mind and spirit.
How to use: I use a cleanser every night, it’s a special evening routine, to “take the day off”. (In the morning, I simply wash my face with water and towel dry).
Make sure the face is clean of all makeup. Splash a bit of warm water over the face to moisten it, then gently pat dry with a towel. Pour out a small amount of the oil cleanser on the hand and apply on the dry skin of the face and the neck using gentle strokes staying clear of the eye area. It’s best to keep the eyes close to ensure the product doesn’t get into the eyes. Once the oil has been gently spread evenly over the face and the next, wet a washcloth in very warm water, wring it out, close the eyes and gently place over the face. Use your hands to hold the washcloth over the face and neck for a few seconds to allow the heat from the cloth to gently open the pores. Then use the washcloth to gently rub off every area of the face and neck, washing away the worries and cares of the day. When finished, gently pat the face and neck dry with a towel. Your complexion should be happy the day is over!
Important: If the product gets into the eyes, rinse with cold water and contact a physician. If you experience any redness or irritation, discontinue use and see your physician.
