I have been in love with New York City ever since moving here with my family 28 years ago, from Romania. I have enjoyed a career in technology, banking and finance spanning 18 years and during this time experienced stress of all shapes and sizes. In recent years, I have made a conscious choice to be more mindful about my consumption, seeing the effects on the people and the world. I bring my experiences and my love for the city and the world to this venture.
My thirst of knowledge of everything related to the natural world, health and wellness spans more than decade and a half. It started out when I attended my first yoga class in 2001 and embarked on a path that was going to be both wondrous and fulfilling, with challenges great and small. My interests and studies have expanded into energy medicine (Reiki, sound healing through gong resonance, sound balancing through Biofield Tuning), aromatherapy, yoga and meditation, as well as massage therapy.
My interests have also expanded to the kitchen, experimenting with and creating healthy vegan concoctions and sharing them in my blog, or taking various Ayurvedic courses and volunteering in the kitchen of a local yoga ashram. If winter time is the perfect time to knit a scarf for a friend (or a wooly mat for a cat), then any other season is perfect to string mala bead necklaces for friends. I maintain a personal daily yoga and meditation practice which continues to be the most humbling, transformative and inspiring experience. I also practice self-healing through Reiki and sound healing and find time to enjoy aromatherapy scent-scapes every day, in the magical apothecary room, whether making a product or simply trying a new essential oil blend.
In addition to being a certified Clinical Aromatherapist, I am also a registered yoga and meditation instructor, Reiki Master Teacher, Biofield Tuning Practitioner and currently pursuing a degree in Massage Therapy. I am currently living on the Upper East Side in New York City, with my husband and two very adorable cats, Eden and Joy.
My love for the healing arts started with a simple desire to educate, to gather and share knowledge on holistic approaches to wellness into daily life, living more simply and more connected to nature and to our own actions.
In my practice, I integrate various energy work that allows us to live more fully in the present moment, being in touch with our bodies and allowing for deep healing to occur at the mental, emotional and physical level. In my studies, I have discovered first-hand the effects of the gong sound bath, as well as sound and chakra balancing through the sound resonance of the tuning forks and the gentle practice of Reiki. I have not only been a student through my own physical, emotional and spiritual challenges, but also a teacher to myself, applying all that I have discovered for a deeper understanding of the healing arts.
Why the name Eden and Joy?
I have always liked the idea of "Eden’s Garden" - to represent the wondrous nature of all things natural, abundance, simplicity and the mighty force of Creation. The quest to find just the perfect name for my wellness practice and a line of products took quite a few days as I quickly realized that Eden + <noun or verb of choice> was a very popular business name. Everything was taken!!! In a moment of pure inspiration, while taking respite from the online search, I looked over to my cat, Georgie, and exclaimed: “Oh, Joy!” (her nickname). Thus, Eden and Joy came into being.
I hope to share with you the joyous wonder of all things natural, in a hope to remember, often, that Eden can be everywhere!
