How yarn, slow walks, and hot chocolate become my portable nervous-system hammock

Yarn, color, and a moment to arrive gently.

Notes from a NYC threshold day

On travel days, I don’t ask my nervous system to perform.

A gentle 30-minute walk before the bus ride helps me transition without rushing.

I give it rhythm, warmth, and something simple to follow.

• 🧠 Zero cognition

• ✋ Bilateral, rhythmic input

• 🫁 Breath naturally entrains

• 🧵 Fascia + vagus nerve get the memo

Warmth, sweetness, and time - taken in slowly. Hot chocolate dessert aaaahhhh ☕️

From a somatic lens, this kind of simplicity matters:

  • Repetitive, predictable motion → safety and coherence

  • No counting, no fixing, no outcome pressure → right-hemisphere bliss

  • The perfect companion for trains, cafés, naps, and post-chocolate glow ☕🧶

Listen.

Follow.

Don’t impose.

Let the yarn lead.

And then I notice it - shoulders drop, jaw softens, breath deepens.

That’s the body saying thank you.

A deliciously unproductive Friday,  one that left me feeling like I earned every stitch 😌✨

The city makes its own mountains. 😉
